Presented by the Centre for Creative Arts, housed in the College of Humanities and made possible through principal funding from the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund, the festival offers an activity-rich week, in which audiences can expect to hear the opinions of award-winning writers, from a variety of political and social contexts, on the creative and artistic processes and perspectives which inform their writing.

Evening panels, book launches and discussions will take place at the UKZN Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre while wide-reaching free day programmes are spread across Durban and surrounding areas as part of the festival’s ongoing effort to promote and nurture a culture of reading, writing and creative expression. This includes school visits, a publishing forum,and a range of seminars and workshops.
Organised by the Centre for Creative Arts, University of KwaZulu-Natal the 16th Time of the Writer festival is funded by the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund (principal funder) and the City of Durban.
