FIDELIS DUKER ON ABUJA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL PARTNERSHIP WITH FESPACO




The last two weeks have been more of travels and creating synergies for ABUJA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL and FAD FM 93.1 ... while in Burkina faso last week, Abuja international film festival film festival and Pan African film and television festival of ouagadugou entered into a collaborative partnership where quality films from the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood) will be given a prominent at FESPACO. AIFF will therefore serve as a clearing house for the Nigerian films and our participation at FESPACO next year. While FESPACO too will facilitate the selection of exceptional African films for AIFF with FEPACI also supporting both organisations to seeing to the success of the partnership. 


This are a few of the arrears of collaboration. It is however instructive that FESPACO will be celebrating 50 years of the festival next year and nollywood will feature as a major theme of the biggest festival on the continent next year.... also important that Abuja international film festival which is the longest running film festival in Anglophone west Africa will also be celebrating 15 years in October this year and FESPACO will be here in Abuja to celebrate with Nigeria's longest running film festival. The meeting had in attendance the founder of AIFF, the director general of FESPACO Ardiouma Soma, the secretary general of fepaci and former minister of culture in Mali cheick omar sissoko, the founder and director of the African film festival of Trinidad and Tobago Asha lovelace, curator and film teacher based in Toronto abubakar sanogo who is working to archive African films in collaboration with FEPACI, filmmaker ramatou. In the next couple of week, more details and engagement with stakeholders will take place.
